GNG Rhinoplasty for a Long/Arrow Nose

GNG Hospital identifies the exact problem with a thorough examination, finding the best solution of your case.

What is a Rhinoplasty for a Long/Arrow Nose?
: A long/arrow nose covers a philtrum with the droopy tip. It is caused by the wrong position of the alar cartilage and the excessive development of septal cartilage.
GNG performs a cartilage reposition and septoplasty at the same time, shortening and elevating the tip of your nose.

Self-Diagnosis for a Long/Arrow Nose
: When looked from the side, a long/arrow nose  has a shorter nasolabial angle than a normal nose. The nose especially looks longer when you smile. Also, the tip is quite droopy, covering a philtrum.

: After correcting a long/arrow nose with an alar cartilage reposition and septoplasty, implants such as your own cartilage can be used on the tip to prevent a recurrence.

Point 3 - Correcting a Long/Arrow Nose with a Hump, Deviation, Nasal Congestion all at once!
: A long/arrow nose might accompany a deviation, a hump, and nasal congestion. GNG analyses your nasal structure thoroughly with 3D-CT prior to operation and corrects the aesthetical and functional issues of your case, which can only be done by a fully experienced specialist.

What to Expect after Rhinoplasty

Nose Surgery? No Problem!

You probably have a lot of questions about undergoing the knife, right? How bad will the bruising be? Will there be a lot of pain? How swollen will I be? Can I breathe?

The truth is, the overall process is a lot faster than you may expect. First of all, in most cases, the surgery time will be about an hour and a half to two hours - of course this varies. After waking up from surgery, you will feel a mixture of from just being completely out of it to feeling like you're in a dream. Coming off anesthesia is like waking up from a drunken dream, almost. After a good ten minutes or so, you may start going from dream-state to feeling a bit uneasy or in a daze. For the next 30-45 minutes, you will be in the recovery room trying to snap out of it. During this time, you may feel nauseous and disoriented. You will not be allowed to drink water for up to three hours to ensure that the anesthesia is out of your system enough. This is to ensure you don't vomit from nausea, which actually isn't so common -- but vomiting right after surgery can cause unnecessary exerted pressure to your face, which should, by all means, be avoided.

After that first hour in the recovery room, you will be free to go home, or at least back to your hotel, and rest for the rest of the day. We recommend taking it easy the first two days, but actually it is quite common for most people to resume their normal daily activity  (minus intense exercise, alcohol, and such) from the second day. Usually this is when our restless patients will go shopping or touring around Korea.

The patient is required to wear a nose cast for up to 7 days following the surgery date. The patient will, in the meantime, visit the hospital on the 3rd or 4th day post-op to undergo a thorough cleaning and inspection by our medical team. When the 7th day comes, both the stitches and cast will be removed.

As you can see to the left, our patient has just removed her cast! The bruising isn't so bad, after all, right?

Why GNG Hospital? Patients travel from all over the world to visit us here at our Gangnam location for not only plastic surgery, but to correct functional issues such as snoring, breathing, nasal obstruction, and more. Simultaneously correct BOTH by board-certified plastic surgeons and ENT professionals

[Review] Thai Patient Undergoes Rhinoplasty with Dr.Hong in GNG Hospital!

She came all the way to Korea from Thailand to get rhinoplasty in GNG Hospital :)

<Before surgery>
Her main concern was long and wide nose  compare to her over all face features
as well as little bit of hump which makes her look less feminine.

<1st day post-op>

She is resting and having pumpkin porridge(-> healthy and good for reducing swelling) in her private room at 8th floor ward.

For few days, patient needs to replace the gauze under the nose because some blood and mucous come out slowly.

After rhinoplasty, patient will have outer cast, internal cast, stitches which will be removed 7th days post-op and nose packing will be removed in 48 hours after the surgery depending on the patient's condition.

Highly concentrated oxygen treatment is a part of post-op cares in GNG Hospital.
It helps fast recovery!
You may feel some ear pressure like you are in a plane.
You will be here for 10~15 mins.

The maximum swelling and bruise occur on the 3rd day post-op.
After that it will get better day by day.

<7th day post-op>

She is seeing Dr.Hong for the last follow up before going back. Since she got osteotomy, doctor is letting her know how to do massage twice a day in front of the mirror.

< 2 weeks post-op >

Major swelling disappears in 2 weeks~1 month.
And patient can expect final result after 6 months.

So please be patient and try not to focus on the small details which may cause unnecessary stress.

< 3rd week post-op>

It is only been 3 weeks after rhinoplasty but she looks gorgeous!!
Can't wait for her more update :)

Haeun Kim #alarplasty #bulbousnose #widenose #nasalobstruction

Before surgery

7th day post-op

The cast was removed on the 7th day post-op!
I still need to be careful but I am meeting my friends, going to work and having normal life.
I can see my nose tip is lifted nicely hehe :)
14th day post-op

2 silicon pads were removed on the 2nd week post-op.
Breathing was a lot easier :)
21st day post-op

Swelling went down a lot and I can see the shape more clearly!!
Isn't it pretty?
All my friends said the result is really good hehe
1 month post-op

Finally, it's been 1 month post-op!
Originally, I wanted to get alar plasty with rhinoplasty but doctor suggested for me to wait for 2 months to see the shape after swelling goes down which will give a better idea whether I actually need it or not.
So I have been waiting for 2 months!
2 months post-op

FINALLY!!! I got alar plasty guys !!!!
It is like a magic! haha
I was worried about the scar because I have read some reviews about the bad scar which looks messy.
But mine was really clean and almost not visible! (YEAH!!)
3 months post-op

I feel I don't have swelling anymore and it looks really natural!
Also, I feel way more comfortable when I breath.
Why didn't I get it earlier?
I feel really happy~ Thank you GNG Hospital and good luck in everything!
