What Happens After Facial Bone Contouring Surgery?

Square Jaw Reduction V Line Surgery is a procedure that adjusts the facial contour from the jaw all the way down to the tip of the chin for the most harmonical balance in golden ratio.

This patient underwent jaw reduction + chin advancement to soften her strong, masculine image. Patients are generally hospitalized for the the first 1-2 nights where they will receive all post-op medications inclusive of antibiotics + anti-inflammatory meds, painkillers, hemostatics, antihistamines, and gastrointestinal agents via IV. The patient should stay at least 7-8 days after surgery to ensure each post-op treatment with the doctor has been met.

LED light treatment and hyperbaric oxygen therapy will begin from immediately after surgery and will be done during each post-op visit to ensure a quick, smooth recovery. Each patient will also be given two 30-minute complimentary nutritional supplement IV drips during the first night.

Facial Bone Contouring Surgery Without Sagging Skin!

Why does skin sag after facial bone contouring surgery?

Sagging skin after facial bone contouring is one of the biggest drawbacks from this surgery. Double jaw surgery, not being the exception, can also lead to post-op sagging. 

Most facial bone contouring surgeons don't consider sagging problems that can occur post operation. In the case of double jaw or bone contouring surgery, the facial bone is cut and the bones are repositioned or removed, so the bone size gets smaller, but the surrounding area will remain the same as before. Gravity and natural aging can also influence this.



How can we counter this?

For the best surgical result, a systematic aftercare system will be conducted based on the patient's procedure and skin condition. A high-frequency deswelling treatment + facial skin care will replenish the elasticity after facial contouring. LED treatment and hyperbaric oxygen therapy will be done immediately after surgery and with each post-op visit. Facial bondaging lessons will be taught to the patient to help as well.

What to expect after surgery?

The patient will be provided a post-op goodie bag filled with everything that is needed by the patient upon discharge. This bag will be filled with all medication, ice/warm compressions, facial compression garment, gargle, ointment/antiseptics, gauze wraps, and even pumpkin juice! - at no extra cost! The patient may travel alone since he/she will be hospitalized the first two nights.

After surgery, the patient will be able to see and touch how much bone was removed. Before and after surgery photos, X Rays, and CT scans will also be shown to the patient to show how much has been improved.

Before surgery

Right after surgery

It's such a bad photo hahaha

Even though it looks little weird due to the bandage and ice pack, it's really helpful to reduce the swelling.
It was very comfortable because the ward was a private room which has small personal fridge and washbasin and I could watch TV while lying down.

The nurses often came in the room to change the ice pack!

3rd day post-op

Dr.Choi said I will get maximum swelling on the 3rd day post-op which was so true ^^; 

However, after 3rd day, swelling was subsidizing pretty quickly.

I was not worried :)

7th day post-op

Compare to 3rd day post-op, the swelling went down quite a lot now!

Bruise changed to yellow color and it slowly went down to the bottom of my face and eventually disappeared.

I went to the hospital to see a doctor and he said I'm healing well and everything is fine!

14th day post-op

Can you see my jaw line?

It amazes me whenever I look at myself in the mirror.

Now, I can have soft meat(I should avoid chewy food for sometime after the facial contouring!)
Every time, I go to the hospital for follow up treatment and check up, they took 3D-CT scan and doctor checked on me.
Everything was professional and well organized.

It's been 1 month post-op.

I have no problem so far.

And I can eat all the food I want to eat hehe.

Time flies hahaha.

Before the surgery, I was worried about the result. Like, 'what if the result might be unnatural...'

But it was a unnecessary worry :)

The first 1~2 weeks was tough but after that it got better!
